PHASE IV offers the most comprehensive science training and nutrition programs available anywhere! We can make you better, and help keep you healthy and competing longer. If you are interested in improving your performance, increasing your longevity in your sport and preventing injury, we will design a periodized training plan for you, complete with nutritional optimization, as well as strength and flexibility training. Our programs have been honed over 35 years in the results driven world of elite athletics, and with thousands of athletes including Pete Sampras and Maria Sharapova who have chosen our science based approach to achieving complex performance goals.
RUN TRAINING FOR CONDITIONING
The PHASE IV Running Package draws on 35 years of experience helping athletes achieve injury free peak performance and aerobic conditioning. The PHASE IV Running Package is the most complete science based training program available anywhere. This program uses scientific analysis to unlock the intricacies or your personal physiology and replaces the guesswork that characterizes most generic coaching programs. We will first analyze every aspect of your running including your current fitness, strength and weaknesses including flexibility, joint stability, and alignment, running mechanics, nutrition and recovery strategies. From this data your team of exercise physiologists and physical therapists will construct and guide you through a comprehensive running program tailored to your personal physiology and genetic make up.
PHASE IV WATERPOWER© PERFORMANCE PROGRAM
The PHASE IV WATERPOWER© PERFORMANCE PROGRAM is the same training program we used to bring Allyson Felix from her season ending injury to Gold Medals in the 2016 Rio Olympics! Working against water’s natural resistance makes for a healthier more balanced workout than is possible on land, with virtually no risk of damage to the body. For both exercise programs as well as rehabilitation, pool workouts build aerobic and anaerobic fitness, muscle strength and tone, flexibility, good body alignment and agility. The PHASE IV Waterpower Performance Program© can be conducted either in our private facility, your home, or other location.
OverSpeed Training
To run faster, you need to train your neurological system as well as your muscles. Using a high-speed treadmill, athletes are fitted in a special harness and can be unweighted by a hoist to allow for high frequency leg cadence or turnover. Combined with running drills you will improve your balance, coordination, and running efficiency.
PHASE IV FUEL© COMPREHENSIVE NUTRITION AND HYDRATION
The foundation for all weight management programs is science. The science of your metabolism is learned through metabolic testing. Science based weight management begins with deciphering the science of your physiology (testing results) and utilizing that science to unlock the secrets of how your body responds to diet and exercise. At PHASE IV we translate this knowledge into your training program. To maintain
your current weight, your daily calorie consumption should equal 1.5 x your RMR or Resting Metabolic Rate. To lose
weight at a healthy rate (i.e., lose fat mass instead of muscle mass & water weight) you need fuel between your
minimum
calories (gleaned from your RMR testing) and your
maintenance
calories (i.e., 1.5 x RMR). The best way to manage your weight and conditioning through training, is to train in your prescription heart rate zone, and make recommended food choices. Our PHASE IV registered dietitians will create a weight management program based on deficiencies and excesses in your nourishment and training program. You will receive a personalized dietary report specific to your needs based on your prescribed activity level and heart rate training zone. Robert Forster, PT has been treating athletes in Santa Monica and around the world for over 35 years. His extensive work with recreational and elite athletes has set his clinic apart from the rest. His staff is experienced in solving difficult sports injuries, and developing rehabilitation programs that are exercise based and make you an active participant in your rehabilitation process.
Our elite athletes have helped capture 60 Olympic medals, Grand Slam, US Open, NBA, Wrestling, and MMA World Championships, and set numerous World Records. Finely tuned athletes respond quickly to Physical Therapy interventions; and they provide the proving ground for advanced treatment with our general population as well.
