Structural Analysis by a Physical Therapist
A complete head to toe structural examination is performed by PHASE IV Physical Therapists; and they will evaluate your strength, flexibility, postural alignment, pronation, and supination foot function, leg length discrepancies and muscular imbalances. We use goniometers to measure joint range of motion, manual muscle testing to determine strength deficiences, and orthopedic testing to identify functional joint stability. In the process we render a picture of your current state of structural preparedness. This exam is the starting point for all PHASE IV Periodized Strength/Flexibility/Injury Prevention Programs designed to meet your goals for life and sport!
THE COMPLETE FORSTER STRUCTURE PROGRAM
The Complete Forster Structure Program© is the foundation of all of our personal training and exercise programs. The Forster Structure Program will bring your fitness to a peak as you progress through the comprehensive phases of Periodization training. Following your head-to-toe Structural Exam performed by a Physical Therapist, you will receive a personalized training program for your use at home or in your own fitness center, as well as four personal training sessions at PHASE IV to instruct you in core strength, posture exercises, Periodization weight training, stretching, and plyometric exercises specific to each phase. This program will start by providing the basic stretching and strengthening exercises required to prevent injury and provide the structural essentials to remain healthy and maintain joint function and stability. This will lead to efficiency and injury prevention for sport and general health. Delivered with the professional guidance of an experienced Sports Physical Therapist & Exercise Physiologist, this program includes the essential exercises necessary to achieve functional and balanced joint stability, advanced flexibility, and core strength.

Unlike any typical gym, at PHASE IV Physical Therapists oversee all personal training sessions. Training experiences are supportive, effective, educational, and safe. Data collected from your Structural Examination, Consultation, and other assessments is utilized to customize your periodized Prescription fitness, conditioning, strength, and metabolic program; and every session is executed together with your PHASE IV certified exercise physiologist. All PHASE IV Weight managment programs begin with a Resting Metabolic Rate Test or RMR. This is the starting point for all science based nutrition programs designed to achieve optimum health and body weigh. The RMR test measures precisely how many calories your body requires to keep your metabolism revving and burning more calories all day. Consume less than this minimum number of calories and your metabolism becomes sluggish, going into an idle to conserve every calorie you consume and store more fat. With the RMR calculation we will determine the number of calories you need everyday to support your activities and address your weight management goals. These results will be used in conjunction with the necessary nutritional logs and questionnaires to provide a nutrition plan prescription. Our Science Based Weight Management Program is available online after the RMR results have been calculated.

PHASE IV Run Gait Analysis
Few people would take up tennis or golf without first taking some lessons from a pro. Most runners, however, mistakenly think that because running is a basic human function, and since we all did it as children, we do not need to be taught how to run. While it’s true that the human body has evolved to be an efficient running machine able to cover long distances with a well-honed economy of motion, our civilized life style has robbed us of the built in efficiencies that evolution provided. Our muscles have shortened and weakened, our joints have tightened, and movements have become corrupted by hours of sitting and a lack of stretching. To exploit the gifts that evolution has given us, we need to learn to run in a way that benefits energy conservation and keeps us protected from injury. The PHASE IV Gait Analysis is performed by Physical Therapists with expertise in joint function, human movement patterns, and in the myriad of ways that runners get hurt. We will video your stride frequency, knee rise, foot and leg position at foot strike, and upper body carriage to identify bio-mechanical deficiencies and correct them. We will assess whether your shoes are appropriate for your mechanics and provide you with drills to maximize your efficiency and increase your speed.
